A European tour is one of the best experiences on two wheels. Preparation makes the difference between a great trip and a breakdown far from home.
Service before you go
Get a full service or touring check a few weeks before departure, so there is time for parts to arrive.
Tyres
Make sure your tyres have enough tread for the full distance plus a margin. Long motorway miles wear the centre quickly.
Chain and sprockets
A long trip is the wrong time for a worn chain. Fit a new kit if yours is near the end of its life.
Electrics and charging
Check the battery and charging system, especially if you will run navigation, heated kit and phone chargers.
Luggage and accessories
Fit and test luggage, phone mounts, USB chargers and heated grips before you leave.
Paperwork and kit
Check the rules for each country you are visiting, including documents, insurance cover abroad, and any equipment you are required to carry.
