Battery trouble is one of the most common reasons bikes do not start, especially in colder months.
Warning signs
Slow cranking, a clicking starter, dim lights, a dashboard that resets or a bike that needs a jump start.
Keep it charged
If you ride infrequently, use a battery charger or maintainer designed for motorcycle batteries. Short trips may not fully recharge the battery.
Check the connections
Loose or corroded terminals cause starting problems even with a good battery.
It might not be the battery
A faulty regulator rectifier or stator can stop the battery charging, or overcharge and damage it. Accessories wired incorrectly can drain it overnight.
