What Oil Should You Use in a 125cc Scooter? — Easy Bikes Motorcycles Shop

Using the right oil protects your scooter's engine and helps it last. Here is what you need to know.

Check the manual

Your owner's manual lists the oil viscosity grade and the specification your engine needs. Use what it says.

Use motorcycle or scooter oil

Oils made for motorcycles meet the right specifications for small, high-revving engines. On motorcycles with a wet clutch, car oils can contain friction modifiers that cause slipping. Most automatic scooters have a separate gear oil for the final drive, which also needs changing at its interval.

Check the level regularly

Small engines hold little oil, so even a small loss matters. Check it with the scooter upright on level ground.

Change it on time

Old oil loses its protection. Delivery riders who cover big mileage usually need more frequent changes.
