Automatic scooters use a CVT (continuously variable transmission) with a drive belt, variator rollers and a centrifugal clutch. They are wear items, and on high-mileage delivery scooters they wear quickly.
Signs of a worn drive system
Sluggish pull-away from the lights, a lower top speed, judder when you open the throttle, the engine revving without the scooter picking up speed, a whining or slapping noise from the transmission, or a burning smell.
What we do
We open the CVT case, inspect the belt, rollers, sliders, variator, clutch shoes and clutch bell, then replace what is worn with quality parts and clean out the dust before reassembly.
Do not wait for it to snap
A belt that breaks leaves you stranded and can damage other parts of the transmission. We check the drive system at every service so it is replaced in time.
Models we see most
Honda PCX, SH and Vision; Yamaha NMAX and XMAX; Piaggio and Vespa scooters.
