Winter shifts are hard, but the right preparation makes them safer and more comfortable.
Dress in layers
Waterproof outer layers, thermal base layers and good winter gloves. A neck warmer and a visor treated against fogging help too.
Heated grips and hand muffs
The best upgrade for winter riding. Cold hands react slowly.
Check tyres and lights
Grip is lower on cold, wet roads and nights are longer. Check tread, pressures and every bulb.
Look after the battery
Cold weather weakens batteries. If your scooter starts slowly, have the battery tested.
Ride smoothly
Brake earlier, avoid painted road markings and metal covers in the wet, and leave more space.
Keep the bike clean
Road salt causes corrosion, so rinse the scooter after riding on gritted roads.
