A breakdown can happen to any rider, and on busy London roads your first job is to stay safe.
Get safe
Move off the road if it is safe to do so, switch on hazard lights and stand well away from traffic, especially on fast roads such as the North Circular or A40.
Quick checks
Is the kill switch on run? Is the side stand up? Is there fuel? Is a warning light showing? On automatic scooters, check you are pulling a brake lever when pressing the starter.
Common causes
Flat batteries, punctures, snapped CVT belts, fuel problems and electrical faults.
Call for recovery
